![]() ![]() Doctors preparing us to turn off his machines.Īs I looked & prayed while I held my brother's hand, I was so very angry & was yelling in my mind at my heavenly father. We were all crying & praying hopelessly as my brother laid in a coma. It’s their special tradition and gift to us.Įve Torres Shelton: Some might think otherwise, however I was in Florida several years ago in a hospital ICU at my brother's bedside right before Christmas. Afterwards, his brother always cleaned up the wrapping paper, boxes, and trash. When he came home for Christmas in 2016 he got up first and did the same thing. The funny thing is we would usually be awake already and pretended to be asleep until he finished. ![]() Zuki Flores: My favorite Christmas memory is ever since our youngest son could read he would get up first sort all the gifts by the names on the gift tags and then wake myself, his dad, and brother up. She said "I was so happy that MM was able to go to Mamas like my boys always have." We lost both our angel girls in 2015. Well this year we still want the same thing. You can take the puppy back."īetty Butler Giddens: One of my favorite was in 2014 when my angel daughter was able to bring my angel granddaughter to my house. I was in their house to surprise the boys when they came in with their Doberman Pinscher and said "Santa remember last year we wanted bike and a wagon. I knew the Johnson family for a long time. It was a scary time and a gift we clung to the entire time dad was away. The man even provided hot cocoa and cookies. He surprised us by renting a horse-drawn carriage with a gentleman who drove us all through the countryside, and there was so much snow. ![]() My dad was about to deploy for Desert Storm. Tom and Jennie Macagg: When I was in 7th grade living in Germany. Somebody forgot to unlock the basement door so “Santa” could change back into plain clothes and join the party. ![]() Seeing my daughter's beaming face as she placed with the Dream House made it all worthwhile.ĭebby Judd: When we forgot about “Santa” after he visited and left him outside in the snow for a couple hours. My wife and I fell into bed to be awakened 4 hours later by squeals of delight. After two hours of trying to figure out crappy assembly instructions, false starts, re-do's, frustrations and muttered curses directed towards the creators of this tormenting toy it was finally assembled. My eldest had gotten a Barbie Dream House from Santa, some assembly required. On the Christmas in question we got home to Fort Bragg around midnight, put the kids to bed and started helping Santa assemble and arrange the children's presents. I'll never forget it all so long as I live.īill Wadford: When the children were younger we would drive up to Wake Forest and have Christmas Eve with the extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins (1st, 2nd and 3rd plus spouses and kids) plus a few long time friends of the family. My kids were so excited shopping for the Angel Tree kids, and I hope their moms had a similar reaction to my mom's all those years ago. The cards friends and family members purchased would then be mailed to deployed troops and the $10 would be used to buy gifts for our Angel Tree kids. From there I announced in Facebook that we were selling the cards for $10 each. We then turned these 2 pics into double sided Christmas cards. They had previously taken art lessons and their teacher helped me by painting Christmas themed pics with them. Last year I helped my kids get gifts for 2 Angel Tree kids. My family was provided gifts that year because of the Angel Tree program. The most vivid part of this memory was my mom's reaction- sobbing with the biggest smile on her face. When I was in 1st grade I remember Santa and his elves showing up to our house with TONS of gifts and clothes. It requires a bit of a backstory though so bear with me. Halley August Valentine: Last year was the best Christmas of my life. Here are our favorites.Įditor's note: Some comments have been edited for clarity. Be sure to grab some Kleenex, though, because some of these just might make you cry. Some of these are pretty funny - most parents have dealt with the not-so-fun Christmas Eve toy assembly. We asked our Facebook followers to share their favorite Christmas memories. ![]()
